About

"This all started with a lazy Sunday trip out for coffee and cake to Borders Books in Dundee and a chance meeting with the book "Aranzi Cute Dolls" by Aranzi Aronzo. I swiftly bought the book along with "Plush You!" by Kristen Rask and proceeded to cut up all my old clothes as soon as I got home, my first creation was born, a rather old and stinky looking sock monkey came next. Both of these were hand stitched, although this was great fun I soon realised that if i gave my Mum's old Singer sewing machine a try things would go a lot faster. This sewing machine is fantastic, it is from 1976, and although it weighs around the same as a small elephant it helped me out for a couple of weeks until I got a brand new one for my 31st birthday."

I am now one year on from getting my sewing machine, have taken part in a few craft fairs and have been blogging about my crafty exploits and reading other like minded crafty blogs along the way, this has inspired me to take my online venture a stage further and try to get a collection of some of the best crafters and designers work on Ruby Loves Red and to promote Handmade as much as I can.

Ruby Loves Red aims to bring you some of the best handmade and printed products by today's most talented designers and crafts people. This shop has been born out of a love for all things cute, quirky and characterful hence 'Gifts With Character'.

Drawing on my experience from my degree in Illustration and printmaking and love of creating soft toys I (Sandra Cassidy) created Ruby Loves Red with the hope of bringing a little bit of craftyness and individuality back into today's mass market driven society. We hope you like the shop and take away a little bit of handmade to brighten up your life!
