Astrid Weigel

Having trained and worked as a printed textile designer, Astrid Weigel now works from her home in the west of Scotland producing contemporary soft furnishings. Her work draws on inspiration gathered from the every life; however, the garden is where she finds the most creative stimulus. Currently producing a range of hand crafted items for the home using floral elements as its theme, fabrics are designed and screen-printed in short runs. Using bold black and white illustration they are embellished further by applique and hand/machine stitching, adding touches of colour by individually hand painting the cloth. Items are made using natural materials gathered from a broad range of sources - new, old, found and donated.
